A DRIVER was killed after his car crashed into the back of a parked lorry near Clifton Upon Dunsmore.

It happened on Watling Street at around 5.30am on Sunday (July 10). The car driver hit the HGV which was parked up in a lay-by near the Nightowl Truckstop.

Medics arrived to find the Ford Galaxy severely damaged – with the man still inside.

It quickly became apparent to the attending nothing could be done to saved the driver, believed to be in his 40s, and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

A West Midland Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed the driver of the lorry, who is understood to have been resting in the cab of his vehicle at the time, was uninjured in the accident.

The name of the dead man has not yet been reported.
