Driver goes wrong way on dual carriage and tries to fool police during helicopter chase

EFFORTS to evade police by driving the wrong way own a dual carriage, and a clothes change in a shop, were in vain for an unlucky driver.

Following reports of a burglary in Leamington on Monday (May 10), Warwickshire Police found the vehicle involved near Coventry.

It was pursued where it drove the wrong way down a dual carriageway, as items used during the burglary were discarded, and later recovered by officers.

The vehicle was followed by the helicopter until it went to the Ricoh Arena where the driver ran off into the shop and changed his clothing. He later tried to walk back out the shop but was challenged by an officer and arrested.

The Audi S3 had been stolen in a burglary in Northamptonshire earlier in the month.

He has been charged with the burglary in Leamington, dangerous driving and receiving stolen goods.
