A MAN was rescued by the roadside after being hit by a car near Rugby.
The pedestrian, believed to be in his 40s, was walking along Yates Avenue in Newbold on Avon at around 11.30pm on Friday December 18 when a car crashed into him – causing injuries to his head and chest.
A rapid response team was on the scene within minutes of a 999 call and later backed up by paramedics.
A West Midlands Ambulance spokesman said: “On arrival crews found a man who was unconscious. The collision had damaged the windscreen and side of the car.
“Although the man started to come round, the doctor anaesthetised him at the scene before he was taken on blue lights to the major trauma centre at University Hospital, Coventry & Warwickshire. Thankfully, the prognosis appears good.
“The driver of the car was uninjured.
“The Trust would like to thank the police officers from Rugby who assisted at the scene. Their help throughout the incident was outstanding.”
