Man stabbed during motorbike robbery

A MAN was stabbed during a motorbike robbery in Rugby yesterday evening (Saturday May 14).

Police were called to Bilton Road near the junction with Dunster Close at around 8.30pm following reports a man had been stabbed and had his motorbike stolen.

The man in his 40s was found with a serious injury to his abdomen and was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery overnight. He is currently in a stable condition.

A 32-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of wounding a short time later in Wentworth Road. He was taken to hospital with a head injury and police are waiting to question him.




The motorbike was later recovered.

Det Insp Cawail Wong said: “We fully understand how shocking this incident is for the local community and we’d like to reassure them a thorough investigation is underway.


“We’re working hard to establish the full circumstances that led to this terrifying incident. I’d urge anyone with information to get in touch as a matter of urgency.

“Residents will continue to see increased levels of police activity while enquiries are carried out.”
