A FATAL crash occurred in Rugby Road, Lutterworth when a silver Skoda Estate collided with a tree and overturned.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) spokesman said nothing could be done to save the car’s driver – a 38-year-old man – when they were called to the scene, near the entrance to Lutterworth Golf Club, at 7.15pm on Monday (August 1).
The Skoda was travelling along the A426 towards Lutterworth, when the collision took place.
The WMAS spokesman said: “On arrival, crews discovered a car which had overturned following a collision with a tree.
“The driver of the car, a man, was out of the vehicle and found to be in cardiac arrest.
“Bystanders including an off duty nurse had already started CPR which ambulance crews took over.
“However, unfortunately it became apparent that nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
The road was closed for a number of hours while crews attended the scene.
Officers would like to speak to anyone who either saw the collision or the vehicle being driven beforehand. Call Leicestershire Police on 101 with information.
