A MAN was tasered by police at the roadside following an accident on the M6 near Rugby.
Emergency services were called to the southbound carriageway between junctions one and two at around midday today (Monday October 10) after reports of a road traffic accident.
Police, ambulance and fire crews arrived to find a Ford KA had left the road and ended up on its roof. No one was trapped in the incident but the driver, a man, received minor injuries.
Officers then became worried about the driver’s behaviour. A police spokesperson said: “Concerns were raised for the drivers safety following threats he made to himself and others, therefore a taser was deployed by officers for his own protection.”
The man was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries. No arrest have been made in connection with the incident.
The attending fire crews closed the road for approximately half an hour while they handled the wreckage.
