Rugby Editorial 10th Feb, 2017   0

VIOLENT robbers hit their victim with a piece of wood and burned his face with a cigarette in broad daylight.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was walking along an alleyway from Wentworth Road towards Firs Drive when he was pinned to a fence and threatened with a knife by a man, while a second hit him on the head with a wooden object – knocking him to the ground.

One of the men also burned the victim’s face with a cigarette.

The robbery happened at around 2pm on Saturday February 4.

The thieves took £200 from the victim, who suffered a small cut to his arm. He was treated at hospital and released.

The first offender was white, in his early 30s, around 6ft tall, of stocky build and was wearing a woollen hat. He had a tattoo under his eye.

The second offender was also white and of a similar age, around 5ft 10ins tall, of a large build, and was wearing a blue hooded top with white stripes and sand-coloured boots. Both men were described as having Eastern European accents.

Anyone with any information is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting reference 341 of February 4.
