Mayor hands over charity cheques

Rugby Editorial 4th Jun, 2014 Updated: 27th Oct, 2016   0

TWO charities have shared the more than £4,000 raised during outgoing Lutterworth mayor Bob Howes’ year in office.

The largest slice of the money – £3,100 – has been handed to LOROS, the well-known Leicestershire and Rutland hospice charity, while £1,050 has been banked by the Community of Grace hostel for homeless men in Leicester which itself is a supporter of Lutterworth Open Christmas, run by Coun Howes.

The donations are made up of money pledged by local businesses and individuals, and at several fund-raising events.

Coun Howes handed the chains of office to Philip Toye last week.
