Medieval mayhem planned for a Night at Thy Museum

DRAGONS, knights and princesses take centre stage when Rugby Art Gallery and Museum lowers the drawbridge for a Night At Thy Museum later this month.

The night of medieval-themed entertainment and creative activities takes place on Friday May 18.

The walking, roaring Dreckly Dragon will roam the museum during the event, but a courageous knight promises to keep Dreckly on best behaviour.

Visitors can meet the knight and learn about the medieval code of chivalry and valour, and gain entry to the royal parlour for an audience with the princess, who reveals the rules of royal etiquette.

Tom the Tale Teller, the Wondrous Wizard, hosts magical, medieval story-telling sessions where visitors can help him weave tales sat around a cauldron, while Falconry Days bring birds of prey to take guests on a different flight of fancy.

Imaginative minds can get creative by making medieval princess hats, crowns and shields, while younger visitors can get messy at creative play sessions.

Nikki Grange, Rugby Art Gallery and Museum’s arts, heritage and visitor services manager, said: “Our annual Night At Your Museum celebration has become one of the highlights of our calendar, and we’re looking forward to transforming Rugby Art Gallery and Museum into a medieval marvel for the evening.

“We’re expecting high demand for tickets, so please book early to avoid missing out on a night of medieval magic.”

A Night At Thy Museum runs from 4.30pm to 9pm. Tickets, priced £2 per person (children under two free), allow one-and-a-half hour admission to the event, with admission times starting at 4.30pm, 6pm and 7.30pm.

Tickets, which also include entry to the World Rugby Hall of Fame and the Archaeology Gallery, can be booked online at www.ragm.co.uk/naym or by calling Rugby Visitor Centre on (01788) 533217.
