Men, women and children welcome at this year's Rugby Race for Life

MEN, women and children will all be able to take part in this year’s Rugby Race for Life.

After 25 years as a women-only event, Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life is open to all this year.

Participants raise money for the charity to remember loved ones lost to cancer, celebrate those who have survived, or support those going through treatment.

Cancer Research UK’s Warwickshire event manager Katie Bevan said: “Our Race for Life events have been women-only since they started, but we now feel the time is right to open them up so that everyone has the chance to participate together.

“Our Race for Life events are fun, colourful, emotional and uplifting.

“Taking part enables like-minded people to get together and remember loved ones lost to cancer or celebrate the lives of those who have survived. At the same time, they are helping to make a difference to people with cancer, right now.

“It’s a perfect example of everyday people doing an extraordinary thing – uniting in a common cause to beat cancer.”

Cancer Research UK has been instrumental in doubling cancer survival rates in the UK since the early 1970s.

Rugby Race for Live takes place at Draycote Water on Saturday June 22, where participants can choose to run a 5k or a 10k route.
