More bobbies to go on the beat in Warwickshire this Christmas

MORE police will be on the beat in Warwickshire during the festive period.

Warwickshire Police will deploy extra officers on the streets and in stations to process prisoners, on nights during December which it has identified as likely to be some of the busiest of the year.

Ch Insp Steve Beard is leading the county’s Christmas policing operation this year.

He said: “We expect some of the nights over Christmas to be extremely busy in the pubs and clubs across the county. We’ll have extra officers on the streets to help people stay safe and we’ll have other extra officers on duty to help take care of those who don’t behave themselves.

“We know the vast majority of people will go out, have a good time and go home safely. Unfortunately, as we all know, there’s a minority of people who don’t stay in control and cause trouble. We will not hesitate to take action to address this type of behaviour.

“Our main advice to people going out celebrating this Christmas is know your limits, stay in control and look out for your mates.

“If one of your mates is looking for trouble, get them home before we need to intervene.”
