COMMUNITIES in Warwickshire will get an extra chance to learn more about the county’s Fire and Rescue Service Consultation – while more Rugby residents are being urged to take part.
Warwickshire County Council (WCC) has added an extra date in Shipston-on-Stour to a series of information sessions which will share details about the ongoing consultation.
And with responses from the Rugby area much lower than from other areas of Warwickshire, the council is asking more residents from the town to get involved – adding that proposed changes could have an impact on resources in the wider Rugby area.
WCC’s fire and rescue spokesman Coun Andy Crump said: “This proposal isn’t about cutting costs or closing fire stations. It’s about making sure that we’ve got our resource in the right place to make the best difference when an emergency happens.
“We’re also keen to give people a chance to hear from us in person and to ask any questions they may have.
“No decisions will be made until the consultation is over, so we hope our residents will take this opportunity and join us at one of our information sessions to find out more.”
The new information session in Shipston-on-Stour will take place on March 5.
WCC opened the consultation in December to give residents, businesses, community groups and public sector partners a say on how Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service manages its resources. The consultation is open until March 10.
