MP Mark Pawsey has been promoted to a role in the Ministry of Defence.

He will act as Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to Anna Soubry MP.

The new role will see him work with Ms Soubry on issues relating to cadets, veterans and service families, and also with armed forces charities.

Mr Pawsey recently graduated from the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme which gave him insight into the lives of the UK’s service men and women.

He said: “I was very proud to have been asked by the Prime Minister to act as a PPS in the Ministry of Defence.

“I look forward to working with the Minister in the areas of responsibility and ensuring the appropriate recognition for the contribution or brave service men and women make on a daily basis.

“I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about military life and look forward to making my contribution to the important work of the Ministry of Defence.”

MARK Pawsey has been named Coventry and Warwickshire’s Best Small Business Friendly MP.

The Federation of Small Businesses said it analysed speeches made in Parliament over the past year that made reference to supporting small businesses with Mr Pawsey, who ran his own business before being elected in 2010, making 21 such speeches.

Best all round Small Business Friendliness was won by Warwickshire County Council while Best Keep Trade Local Campaign was shared by Stratford District Council and Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, and Best Procurement Policy was handed to Coventry City Council.

Chairman Ian O’Donnell said: “The MP award is particularly important to the FSB as we know how hard MPs work to always fight for the small business cause when representing their constituency in Parliament.”
