A CONCERT to raise money for victims of the Nepal earthquake is being held in Rugby this weekend.

Warwickshire-based music promoter Big Help Management is organising the concert in aid of the Nepal Earthquake Appeal

at Arnold House Masonic Lodge on Saturday (May 16).

Promoter Dutch Van Spall, founder of Big Help Management and Folk on the Water, said: “We have been shocked by the unfolding tragedy in Nepal and our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who has been affected.

“We cannot stand by as mere TV spectators of this and have decided to dedicate this concert to the surviving families and communities. All funds raised on the night will go to the “Nepal Earthquake Appeal” – all donations will be matched by the government.”

Artists that have already committed to play include Rugby’s own indie folksters Speak Brother and singer-songwriter Hollie Aires, alongside double BBC Folk Award nominee Luke Jackson, BBC Introducing Artist of the month Rosetta Fire, Coventry based folk-country-pop duo Supine Orchestra, young blues guitarist Jack Blackman, and Shropshire songstress Melissa Severn.

Dutch added: “Artists are approaching us all the time and asking to be added to the line-up and we may extend the concert to make sure everyone can play.

“If you’re coming you may want to keep an eye on the start time as we may bring it forward. You can find out all the details by going onto our event page on Facebook. Look for ‘A Concert for Nepal’.”

Doors at the Elsee Road venue open at 6.15pm for a 7pm start. Tickets are £10 on the door (£7 in advance).
