New Bilton Post Office to move half a mile from current location

A POST Office in New Bilton will be relocated around half a mile away.

The Post Office is moving its Bridget Street branch to the Premier shop at the AA petrol station in Lawford Road, around eight minutes’ walk away, following a public consultation held in May and June.

The newly-named Lawford Road branch will be open for 34 hours a week longer than the current shop, providing products and services from a Post Office counter alongside the retail till in the store.

The opening hours for the branch will be 8am-7:30pm on Monday to Friday, 9am-7:30pm on Saturday, and 11am-4pm on Sunday.

A Post Office spokesperson said: “After careful consideration of the feedback received during consultation, we remain confident that the layout and location of the new branch will continue to meet customer needs and deliver an excellent service, while securing the long-term viability of Post Office services in the local community.”

The new premises will include signposted parking for two cars in a dedicated area on the forecourt, and a designated disabled parking bay outside the shop. Time-restricted parking on Lawford Road and limited parking on Plowman Street are also available.

Work will also be carried out to create a marked pedestrian walkway from the pavement in front of the forecourt to provide safe access.

The current branch at 103 Bridget Street will close on Monday November 14 at 1pm, when the new branch opens.
