New bin collection schedule for Rugby revealed

Correspondent 4th Jan, 2017   0

CHANGES to bin collections will be finalised when new calendars are sent to borough households next week (beginning January 9).

The calendars will be hand delivered by waste collection crews to outline the new schedule brought in by Rugby Borough Council, which comes into effect from January 23.

Blue-lid recycling bins will continue to be collected fortnightly, on residents’ normal collection weeks. Before the changes come into effect, black bins will be collected this week (beginning January 2) and the week beginning January 16. From January 23, residents should refer to their new waste collection calendar.

The council said the changes were needed to make sure every household had a black bin collection in the weeks before and after Christmas, and to make rounds more efficient in future.

The council’s environment and public realm spokeswoman Coun Lisa Parker said: “The changes to the Christmas waste collection schedule were publicised to all residents before Christmas – nevertheless they will have caused some disruption and inconvenience.

“It is important that residents look out for their new calendar and also continue to follow the schedule that was delivered to them and published on the council website – the schedule has not changed and we are continuing to collect rubbish and recycling as planned.

“This week we will collect black bin waste from all households, and the blue bin collections are continuing fortnightly. If you didn’t have a blue bin collection last week you will be due one this week.”
