New defibrillator continues Rugby charity's life-saving work in Jamie's memory

A LIFE-SAVING Rugby charity’s impressive work has continued following a donation.

The OurJay Foundation has installed its latest defibrillator at the new Ashlawn Gardens development, funded by a £1,170 donation from housebuilder Barratt Homes.

The charity has now installed over 140 defibrillators across the region since it was founded in 2022 by Naomi Rees-Issitt in memory of her 18-year-old son Jamie Rees, who died suddenly following a cardiac arrest.

The new 24/7 accessible defibrillator has been installed on the outside of the Ashlawn Gardens sales centre.

Naomi said: “Being able to ensure there is an accessible defibrillator on a new housing development in Rugby is a huge breakthrough for Jamie’s foundation.

“We feel that every new-build development in the UK should have one, and we hope this will become the first of many. We are so grateful for the donation.”

Cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time, at any age. Having a defibrillator available within eight minutes can increase the chance of survival by up to 70 per cent.

Simon Francis of Barratt Homes said: “Access to a defibrillator is of the utmost importance, and we’re thrilled to provide one at our Ashlawn Gardens development.

“We’re proud to support the charity’s work that has such an impact on the residents of Warwickshire.”

The OurJay Foundation aims to raise awareness of the importance of publicly accessible defibrillators and provide training in life-saving skills. Visit for more information.
