New feedback system allows patients to improve healthcare in Coventry and Warwickshire

PATIENTS and carers can help improve healthcare services in Coventry and Warwickshire thanks to a new feedback system.

Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust (CWPT) has launched a new initiative to collect feedback about patients’ and carers’ experiences of services.

The Trust is partnering with iWantGreatCare to provide a new way of collecting feedback from patients who use the health care services provided by the Trust across Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull.

iWantGreatCare is an independent organisation which collects reviews and ratings from patients, carers and families about NHS services – which will now include CWPT.

Feedback will be reported in real time so issues can be acted on immediately, and the Trust can demonstrate to its patients where improvements have been made, as well as celebrate positive comments and feedback with staff teams directly.

Patients will be able to complete an online survey or paper-based feedback form to rate their experience.

Interim Chief Nurse Ros Alstead said: “iWantGreatCare is a unique way of collecting information about what patients really think about the treatment and care they receive. It will give staff the opportunity to listen to what patients are telling them and see how we together can continue to improve where it matters most.

“As well as the improvements, we feel that it is important to celebrate the positive comments and will enable staff to hear this positive feedback immediately which can be rewarding and motivating and helps make sure we keep up the good work. We will use feedback at team level to learn and improve within all our services.

“All clinicians want to know what their patients think about them and the services they run; this enables us to improve and continue to build trust and confidence.

“We all recognise the importance of patient and carer feedback and that’s why we are using this new feedback mechanism to help us ensure we are delivering the highest quality services now and can evolve them for the future.”

Jagtar Singh OBE, Chair of the Trust’s Board, said: “This feedback mechanisms will be better and easy for patients and carers to use. As a Board we will be carefully noting feedback and taking actions where required. We will also ensure the Trust uses the feedback to learn from feedback and celebrate with the team our collective wins.

“I would encourage all patients and carers to provide constructive feedback to the Trust, highlighting both what is good about services and what can be improved.

“Our great staff are always open to learning and getting feedback from patients as our focus has always been to provide a great place to care.”
