New Warwickshire charity aims to eliminate discrimination

A NEW charity aims to eliminate discrimination in all its forms across Warwickshire.

The Equality and Inclusion Partnership (EQuIP) provides support, advice and training to promote equality and inclusion.

At a formal launch event at Dunchurch Park Hotel on Monday (October 16), an invited audience of key partners explored why equality and diversity are important.

Warwickshire County Council, Warwickshire Police and other statutory and voluntary sector partners launched EQuIP’s new discrimination casework service.

EQuIP’s new website was also launched this week. Designed and hosted by Edge of the Web in Warwick, it was devised to be a clear, modern and responsive website that enables clients to get in touch easily.

EQuIP chief executive Junaid Hussain said: “We work alongside local groups, businesses and organisations helping to build understanding and cohesion throughout our community through individual support and advice, group learning and tailored training courses.

“I am delighted that we have such an interesting event to launch our services in the key areas of casework discrimination, community engagement, education and training and providing key equality research.”

Chair of trustees James Shera said: “EQuIP builds on the 12 year’s work of the Warwickshire Race Equality Partnership, building on its work on race to include all forms of equality and tackling discrimination.”

The former borough councillor and Mayor, who was made an Honorary Freeman of the Borough earlier this year, added: “Guest speakers included joint managing director of Warwickshire County Council Monica Fogarty, and executive director of the Equality Trust Dr Wanda Wyporska who spoke about social inequality. There was also a short drama performance from Tea Leaf Tales, a group of young people with learning disabilities.”

EQuIP works towards the elimination of discrimination on the grounds of age, disability, gender, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, and sexual orientation. Visit for more information.
