Newbold community braves showers and gales to spruce up local park

Rugby Editorial 10th Aug, 2017   0

COMMUNITY-spirited volunteers braved showers and gales to spruce up their neighbourhood when they spent a day litter-picking at Centenary Park in Newbold.

Members of Newbold Community Partnership organised the latest of a number of such events to tidy up the park.

Their efforts paid off when volunteer families were rewarded for their hard work with a family picnic, with food provided by The Chapel in Newbold.

The Chapel receives surplus food from supermarkets which is used for their fortnightly social eating cafe and to support community events such as this.

The Partnership has now completed three litter picks around Newbold – at Brownsover Road, Newbold Quarry and Centenary Park – and more are planned for next year.
