THERE was no stopping fleet-footed young Isla Keay during lockdown.
The six-year-old Rugby schoolgirl decided to play her part in helping the NHS by running a kilometre a day to raise money for Warwick-based NHS Charities Together, which supports and champions the work of NHS charities.
And the Bawnmore Infant School pupil, who was initially aiming to raise £100, actually raised more than £2,300, with more donations still coming in.
Her dad Ally, a personal trainer who accompanied Isla on her runs, explained: “The challenge came about after me and Isla got a bit bored of our little walk once a day, so we decided to run one time. Isla really enjoyed it and as her mum (Kellie an operations manager at Forrest Medical Centre in Coventry) and a lot of our family (Auntie Coco and her grandma) and family friends work for the NHS, she wanted to do a challenge involving running to raise some money.”
Her grandparents were so proud of little Isla’s efforts they even gave her a trophy.
