Nursery colleagues take on fundraising challenges to raise hundreds for for babies born premature or sick

TEAM spirit is alive and well for colleagues at a Cawston nursery who have been raising hundreds of pounds for babies born premature or sick.

Staff at Nature Trails Day Nursery have been pulling out all the stops for leading charity ‘Bliss’ with a series of initiatives.

Alex Copley Jones, Lauren Mittoo, Michelle Cane and Emma Goodman braved the heatwave to cycle 40 miles around Draycote Water.

Nursery Manager Vicky Stancer is also cycling a total of 202.2 miles throughout August – inspired by the Childbase Partnership ‘2022’ themed fundraising challenge which encourages colleagues to incorporate the numbers into their ventures.

The Coventry Road childcare practitioners also showcased their creative talents by making prizes for a charity auction, including a Gruffalo watercolour painting by Steph Reilly, and a Gruffalo themed board game by Hallie Suddens.

Meanwhile, parents and staff enjoyed a selection of homemade cakes as part of a Treat Tuesday fundraiser organised and contributed to by Louise Gulliver, Kelly Lawson, Georgie Ross-Barnard, and Sophie Retallack.

Children at the nursery also got in on the act by creating a video complete with 20 nursery rhymes and 22 Makaton signs, while pre-schoolers were delighted to take part in a charity Pie the Teacher afternoon.

As a result of their combined efforts, the Nature Trails team have raised over £455, with donations still coming in.

Nature Trails Day Nursery Charity Representative Louise Gulliver said: “Raising money for charity is hugely important to us as a nursery and we love to give back to the community in which we serve.

“We are incredibly lucky to have such generous families at Nature Trails and they are brilliant at getting behind the causes we support. The 2022 theme has given us lots of inspiration and we are so proud of the dedication shown by the team.”
