Old boys return to school

Rugby Editorial 27th Jul, 2023   0

LAWRENCE Sheriff School recently welcomed some old boys back for its first Alumni event.

Previous staff and students toured the school to see the new developments and reminisced together over photos on display in the Sheriff Centre.

Almost 100 attended, ranging from those who attended in the 1950s right up to the 2020s.

Headteacher Teresa Mpofu spoke about her vision for the Alumni, and particularly how the school would like to welcome more past students back to the school to pass on their wisdom and expertise, including careers advice.

Current students supplied the old boys with refreshments and musical entertainment. A few of the visitors even took the opportunity to play ball games on the hard play space where they had spent many past break and lunch periods.

Stuart Esworthy, a representative of the Old Laurentian Society, also spoke at the event about how so many prominent people in the area had links to the school.

The school is looking at holding activities in future years as it develops the LSS Alumni and would welcome any contact from former pupils and staff, which they can do by emailing [email protected]

The Old Laurentians would also love to hear from former pupils at Facebook page The Old Laurentian Society/Facebook.
