Pat, 89, made to feel 'like the Queen' as guest of honour for opticians reopening

A LOYAL customer joked she felt like the Queen when she was chosen to officially launch a new-look opticians in Rugby.

Great-grandmother Pat Stokes, 89, performed the honours at Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care in Regent Street and received a gift voucher and flowers as a thank you.

The retired teacher, who lives in the town, has been getting her glasses and hearing aids from the branch since 2003.

She said: “It was such a surprise and a great honour to be asked. They are such a lovely team and they look after me so well. They are so kind and professional.

“I recommended Scrivens to my sister and treated her to the same hearing aids as I have because I was so pleased with them.”

Branch manager Sarah Cave said: “Our revamped store looks great so we wanted to mark its reopening in style.

“Pat has entrusted her eye and hearing care to us for many years so she was an ideal choice to launch it. She loves coming here, likes to talk to us and even treats us to chocolates at Easter and Christmas.”
