PATIENT visiting has been suspended at both The Hospital of St Cross in Rugby and University Hospital Coventry from today (Tuesday March 24).
Exceptions include birthing partners and visits to children in paediatrics or those on compassionate grounds.
In line with national guidance UHCW has requested that individuals and families adhere to this with immediate effect to continue to ensure “the safety of yourselves and loved ones”.
Friends and family are encouraged to keep in touch with patients, who can make free phone calls to landlines from their hospital beds. Calls to mobile phones will be charged.
Visits should be agreed with ward managers or the nurse in charge.
A statement for University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust said: “We appreciate your ongoing support during this time.
“These measures are necessary to help us to further protect our patients, staff and visitors from Coronavirus (Covid-19).”
The visiting restrictions were announced following the Prime Minister’s speech at 8.30pm on BBC 1 last night (Monday March 23).
