A HIT-and-run collision which left a pensioner cyclist with head injuries in Cawston on Saturday (August 15) has prompted police to appeal for witnesses.

A 67-year-old woman cyclist was hit by a car which drove away from the scene on the A4071 roundabout that connects to the B4643 Coventry Road at 3.35pm.

The victim was knocked from her bike by a black BMW Coupe as she cycled around the island. The BMW then drove off towards the A45.

The cyclist was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital in Coventry suffering head injuries said to be serious, but not thought to be life-threatening.
