Pensioner suffers serious injuries following reported assault in Rugby

A MAN in his 70s was taken to hospital after police responded to a report of an assault in Rugby.

Officers and paramedics were called to an address in Stephen Street just after 2.30pm on Sunday.

The pensioner was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he is currently receiving treatment.

Two women aged 40 and 43 and a 45-year-old man were all been arrested on suspicion of assault GBH. They are currently in police custody.




Det Sgt Mark Robertson from Warwickshire Police said: “A number of enquiries are ongoing, and this is currently being treated as an isolated incident.

“If anyone has any information which could assist with the investigation, please call Warwickshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 285 of 5 July 2020.”


Information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website.
