Plans for new road to go before public at information event

Rugby Editorial 13th May, 2022   0

PLANS for a new link road in south west Rugby will go before the public next week.

Residents are invited to see the latest news and updates to the plans for the Homestead View Link Road – which developers say will help ease traffic congestion in Dunchurch and support the planned 4,000-home South West Rugby Sustainable Urban Extension (SUE) – at an information event.

Plans will be on display showing the proposed route of the link road, and showing changes made to the designs based on public feedback at previous consultations.

Homestead View is the name of the SUE, which will include new schools, employment opportunities, community and leisure facilities, green spaces and highway improvements. The Homestead View Link Road is a key requirement of the development.

Homes England is delivering the link road, as well as parts of the SUE with a consortium of delivery partners, including L&Q Estates, Richborough Estates and Taylor Wimpey.

Homes England held a consultation on the new road plans in December – and is now presenting the updated plans for public view.

Homes England says it has developed the design of the road to meet the criteria set by Warwickshire County Council and Rugby Borough Council to accommodate vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians, and provide a landscape corridor to the north of Dunchurch.

Homes England Senior Planning and Enabling Manager Ben Frodsham said: “Now that the link road planning application has been prepared, we are keen to share the updated information with residents, and to answer any questions they may have about the planning application submission.

“Our information event will present informative boards with the latest progress, drawings and feedback from our previous consultation. Residents will also be able to download the boards online from our Homestead View Website from May 21.

“We are eager to keep in touch with local residents to keep them as informed as possible, and people can of course view and comment on the official planning application through the Rugby Borough Council website once the application has been validated.”

The information event will be held on Saturday May 21 at the Dunchurch Sportsfield and Village Hall between 10am-4pm.
