Police appeal after woman assaulted in Southam

AN ASSAULT in a Southam car park has prompted a police appeal for witnesses.

A woman sustained injuries to her arms, neck and chest during the assault, which occurred at around 4pm on Saturday (April 16) in the car park in Wood Street.

The assailant is believed to be known to the victim.

A group of men intervened during the assault and police are keen to speak to them, or anyone else who may have seen the incident. Call 101 quoting incident number 232 of April 16.




Stuart Arthur Macaulay, 40, of Central Drive in Bishops Itchington has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

He appeared at Warwickshire Magistrates Court on Monday (April 18) charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault and making threats to kill. He is next due to appear at Warwick Crown Court on Friday May 20.
