Police on lookout for foreign currency after Southam burglary

HUNDREDS of pounds worth of foreign currency has been stolen from a house in Southam.

Police are appealing for information after $600 US Dollars (£417) and $500 Canadian Dollars (£269) were taken during a burglary in Millholme Close, during the week commencing Wednesday March 16.

Approximately $10,000 of in now-defunct Hong Kong Dollars was also taken, along with jewellery, electrical items and personal documents.

Police would particularly like to hear from foreign currency exchanges, as the Hong Kong Dollars – which were taken from a personal collection – are no longer valid. If still valid, the Hong Kong Dollars would be worth around £900.

Officers urge anyone who may come into contact with currency in the amounts listed above to contact them on 101, quoting incident number 169 of March 23.

A birth certificate and a marriage certificate were taken during the burglary and members of the public should report any suspicious documents to the Police.
