Police officer to face child-grooming charges

AN OFFICER with Northamptonshire Police will face charges of child-grooming offences today (Wednesday February 9).

Special Constable Steve Hayden-Tift, 44, from Northampton, was arrested in December by officers from the Force’s Paedophile Online Investigations team.

He is charged with attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity, attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, and intentionally encouraging or assist the commission of an offence.

The offences were alleged to have happened on December 1, 2021.




Mr Hayden-Tift is currently suspended by Northamptonshire Police.

He appeared before Northampton Magistrates’ Court on December 20 when he was remanded in custody.


He will appear before Northampton Crown Court today (Wednesday February 9).
