Man arrested in connection with robbery at Hillmorton newsagents

A MAN has been arrested in connection with a robbery and assault at Madden’s newsagents in Hillmorton.

The 31-year-old man was taken into custody today (Monday November 14) and is awaiting questioning by the police.

Officers are still appealing for more information on the incident which took place at the shop on Hillmorton Road at around 5.15am on Sunday November 13.

It is reported two men entered the shop and assaulted a member of staff before forcing the till open, making off with cash and cigarettes. It is believed the pair fled in the direction of the Featherbed Lane recreation ground.




The two offenders are described as men in their late twenties wearing dark clothing. The male staff member suffered a bruise to the head in the attack.

Police are urging the customers who were in the newsagents to come forward and pass on any information. Anyone else with information should contact Warwickshire Police on 101 quoting incident 61 of November 13.
