A TEENAGE boy is being questioned on suspicion of rape by detectives investigating a report of a sex attack on a woman in Rugby.

Police arrested a 16-year-old boy as a result of a public appeal following the attack, which is believed to have taken place in Little Church Street at around 2.45am yesterday (Saturday July 23).

Police said the woman was assaulted while on a night out in the town centre, and has since received specialist support.

Det Cons Richard Morgan from Rugby CID said: “I would like to thank everyone who contacted us following our appeal. The response led to us receiving information that helped identify a suspect and gather other helpful intelligence.”

Enquires are ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident 72 of July 23. To remain anonymous, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
