AN ASSAULT in the early hours of Saturday morning left a man with a serious cut to his ear.

The man, in his late teens, was walking with a woman at around 2.45am in Collingwood Avenue when they were approached by two men, one of whom attacked the victim with what is thought to be a bladed weapon.

The teen was taken to hospital for treatment. The two men are thought to have left in the direction of May Lane or Bilton Road.

Detective Constable Alex Horwood of Warwickshire Police said: “This is a serious assault that has caused significant injury to the victim, who is fortunate the outcome was not more serious.

“We would like to reassure the community that we are investigating this incident thoroughly and that officers will be present in the area conducting enquiries in what appears to be an isolated incident.”

The offender is described as a mixed race man in his early to mid-20s, average build, around 5’10” tall with short dark hair. He was wearing a dark zip-up hooded top with the hood raised, a black baseball cap and dark coloured tracksuit bottoms, and carrying a shoulder bag.

The man who accompanied the offender is described as a white man, early to mid-20s, around 5`9″ with blonde hair and a skinny build. He was wearing a white t-shirt.

Anyone who witnessed the assault is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 55 of June 25 – or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
