Police seek Hillmorton bag-snatchers

Rugby Editorial 22nd Jul, 2015 Updated: 27th Oct, 2016   0

A WOMAN was left shaken after her handbag was stolen by two men in Hillmorton.

The victim – a 38-year-old woman – was walking past the Post Office on High Street around 8.30am on Tuesday (July 21) when she was approached by two men – one of whom snatched her handbag.

Although she was not injured during the incident, she was left distressed after the men ran off in the direction of Roper Close and Wesley Road.

They are described as black and in their 20s. One was wearing a grey hooded top while the other was dressed in dark clothing with a dark coloured hat.

Investigating officer DC Gareth Unett said: “This was a nasty robbery on a lone woman who was left extremely shaken. The assault took place in broad daylight on a busy road.

“I’m confident people will have seen the men responsible both before and after the incident and we are asking they come forward to help us with our inquiries.

“We are also appealing for any drivers in the area who may have caught the men on their vehicle’s dash camera.”

Anyone with footage travelling along High Street, School Street and The Kent between 8am and 9am or who saw the incident is asked to call police on 101.
