POP quizzers and Christmas shoppers in Rugby helped boost the coffers of The Myton Hospices to the tune of over £3,000.
In its 14th year, the Rugby Pop Quiz raised £1,908 for the hospice, and £1,150 was raised at the Rugby Day Hospice Christmas Bazaar.
The charity’s Rugby Support Group – volunteers who fund-raise for Myton all year round – helped to organise and promote both events, securing prizes and donations in the process.
Myton Hospices community and events manager Clare Cropp said: “We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped make the Pop Quiz and Christmas Bazaar a success for another year, including David Twynholm and Peter Realf, and everyone who attended the events.
“And a special thank you to all the members of the Rugby Support Group for their dedication and hard work in putting on the events, and to all the Myton staff and volunteers who were also involved.”
Myton has hospices in Rugby, Coventry and Warwick. Last year it supported more than 1,800 people and their families in its hospices, via patient and family support services, and in the community through Myton at Home.
The charity needs to raise £9.6million this year from donations and fund-raising events to continue providing its free services.
