Pop-up Christmas shop to host charity which 'transforms lives'

A POP-UP Christmas shop is hosting a Rugby-based charity which ‘transforms lives’ by sending refurbished tools to Africa for the first time this year.

Rugby Christmas Cracker – a pop-up shop in Rugby Central Shopping Centre which runs a well-loved cafe known as the Crackerteria – is teaming up with the refurbishment charity Tools With A Mission (TWAM).

The charity will have a stall in the Crackerteria, selling tools which canʼt be sent to Africa to raise funds for the expensive process of shipping overseas.

This year, the charity plans to send an unprecedented total of 24 containers – filled with refurbished tools such as sewing machines, donated computers, and power tools – to Africa.

Rugby Christmas Cracker organiser Katie Thomas said: “Rugby Christmas Cracker puts all the money raised by their sales towards helping the poorest and most marginalised women in India and Nepal to learn tailoring skills so they can earn a living and support their families – an ethos shared by TWAM.”

Crackerteria opens on Saturday (November 23), serving hot and cold drinks, light lunches, and evening meals.
