Public invited to help shape revamp plans for three Rugby parks

Rugby Editorial 14th Mar, 2024   0

REVAMPS of three parks and play areas in Rugby are in the works – and residents are being invited to help shape the plans.

Public consultations have been launched on Rugby Borough Council’s (RBC) refurbishment plans for the parks and play areas at New Bilton Recreation Ground, Bilton’s Bawnmore Road and Brownsover’s Charwelton Drive.

The council will deliver consultation packs to schools in New Bilton, Bilton and Brownsover, and to households living near the parks.

RBC leisure and wellbeing spokesman Coun Adam Daly said: “The council has a rolling programme of improvements to parks and play areas in the borough, and we’re keen to make progress on our refurbishment plans for New Bilton Recreation Ground, Bawnmore Road and Charwelton Drive.

“Consultations play an important part in drawing up our refurbishment plans, helping us to identify improvements the community want and incorporate ideas in our draft masterplans, so I’d encourage residents to take the opportunity to have a say.”

Coun Jerry Roodhouse, leader of the Liberal Democrat group on RBC, said: “It’s something I have long waited for and it’s good to see political parties coming together to progress this work.”

Visit www.rugby.gov.uk/consultations to take part in the consultations, which close at 5pm on Friday April 12.

The council will launch further consultations when the draft masterplans for the refurbishments have been completed.
