Public urged to have their say on county's Dementia Strategy

Rugby Editorial 24th Oct, 2021   0

THE PUBLIC is being urged to have their say on Coventry and Warwickshire’s Living Well with Dementia Strategy for 2022-2027.

The strategy, a collaboration between Warwickshire County Council (WCC) and Coventry City Council (CCC), aims to ensure everyone affected by dementia is enabled to live well.

The councils say it details the priorities that will help ensure that people with dementia, as well as their carers, receive the appropriate support, information and advice.

The strategy is open for engagement to allow anyone to help to shape the future of services and support for the estimated 11,000 people living with dementia in Warwickshire.

WCC’s adult social care and health spokeswoman Coun Margaret Bell said: “Our priority is to help people live as independently and as well as possible. Support is available throughout the county to help people with dementia as well as their carers.

“As part of this strategy, we want to hear from a wide range of people about what they feel is important about access to services and support, what is working well and what could be improved.”

Alongside the surveys, the Making Space service is offering a range of opportunities to support people with dementia and their carers to shape the Dementia Strategy.

People can book one-to-one sessions, focus groups, and visits to dementia cafes, Patient Participation Groups or other small groups.

Sessions can be delivered virtually, by telephone or face-to-face, and will be offered until October 31.

Contact Making Space on 01926 679207 or at [email protected] for more information.

The engagement on the strategy is open until October 31. Feedback will be reviewed and collated into a report used to shape the strategy.
