Pupils never lost for words after donation funds school's 110 new dictionaries

PUPILS at Paddox Primary School will never be lost for words after a donation allowed it to buy over 100 dictionaries.

Housebuilder Bovis Homes helped the school invest in new dictionaries – and were able to secure 110 copies thanks to a discount at Kenilworth Books.

It means pupils between the ages of eight and 10 have each been given a dictionary to help them improve their writing and language skills.

Head teacher Jane Le Poidevin said: “We are thrilled to receive over 100 dictionaries from the kind donation made by Bovis Homes.

“We are looking to develop the rich vocabulary the children use within their writing and the opportunity for more children in Year 4, 5 and 6 to have access to quality dictionaries is fantastic.

“We would like to express our thanks to Bovis Homes and Kenilworth Books for working with us to provide this enhancement to the pupil’s learning experiences.”

Kenilworth Books owner Judy Brook said: “This is a wonderful initiative.

“The children of Paddox Primary School are the future of this area. Giving them access to books and supporting their learning shows great forethought and a really encouraging, long-sighted approach to the concept of neighbourhood.

“We are delighted to be involved as a small, independent shop working in this county’s education community.”

Paul Bennison, the regional manager for Bovis Homes – which is building houses at its Little Morton location near the school – said: “We hope that the students get good use from the dictionaries and they are used for many years to come.”
