RACIST abuse was shouted at a man in Rugby as he walked down the street.

Four youths on push bikes shouted racial slurs from a bridge near Woodbridge Court to a man walking below, at around 1.35pm on Sunday (November 20).

The victim, described as an Asian man, continued walking away.

The incident was reported to police by a passer-by, and officers are urging the victim to contact them so they can offer help and support.

PC Raj Panesar of Warwickshire Police said: “Every hate crime is one too many; we want to hear each and every time you are a victim of hate crime.

“Tackling hate crime is one of our key priorities and all reports will be thoroughly investigated and support offered to victims.

“The witness did exactly the right thing in reporting this incident to police and I would urge the victim to contact us on 101, quoting incident number 168 of November 20.”
