Rain puts dampener on annual spring event near Rugby

THE RAIN has put a dampener on an annual spring event near Rugby.

Daffodil Sunday – which was due to take place in the grounds of Newnham Paddox country house near Monks Kirby on Sunday (April 14) – has been cancelled due to waterlogged grounds.

Speaking on behalf of the Friends of the Revel C of E Churches, for which the event raises funds, Jim Palmer said: “We are really sorry to announce that, due to the waterlogged ground – particularly in the parking area – Daffodil Sunday 2024 is cancelled.

“Last year, Daffodil Sunday raised over £12,000 to support the upkeep of our six lovely ancient church buildings at the heart of the Revel villages – St John the Baptist in Brinklow, Holy Trinity Church in Churchover, All Saints Church in Harborough Magna, St Edith’s in Monks Kirby, St Denys’ in Pailton, and St Leonard’s in Willey.

“This year, we won’t have much of this money – so, we’d really appreciate if you could help maintain these buildings by donating what you might’ve spent on your entry fee to Daffodil Sunday, so that we can continue to maintain the local Church heritage.”
