Rained-off match stubs valid for 2015

DISAPPOINTED ticket-holders for last month’s rainded-off cricket match between Warwickshire and Kent – which was due to be played at Rugby School – can get free entry to a match next year, say Warwickshire County Cricket Club (WCCC).

A correspondent to the Observer said he was angry at being £60 out-of-pocket for his two tickets because no refunds were offered by the club.

But a club spokesman said the rules would be lapsed to allow ticket holders to attend a 2015 match as compensation.

And he added the club was keen to play a match in Rugby next year.

Cricket fan Christopher French accused the club of being ‘robotic and unsympathetic’ by not offering a refund – a policy stated in their terms and conditions.

And he said the offer to attend a match at Edgbaston in Birmingham during the remaining nine days of the 2014 season was not convenient.

He added: “I thought it was great that the club was coming to my town – but now they’ve taken my hard earned cash and they don’t care. Just like football, it’s all about the money.”

But a spokesman for WCCC said they did care about their fans.

He added: “At the time of the match in Rugby there were nine days remaining before the end of the season.

“However, if a ticket holder had major concerns about making a fixture this year we can roll the ticket over for a match in 2015, which is not something that is included in the standard terms and conditions that are found on the reverse of each ticket.”

He said the club was keen to return to Rugby School, but the decision would depend on the fixture list for 2015, which would be released later this year.

In July of last year, 3,000 people flocked to Rugby School’s playing fields to watch Warwickshire lose a t20 match to Glamorgan by eight wickets.
