HUNDREDS of Father Christmases of all ages will gather at Rugby Athletics Track for the eighth annual Rugby Santa Run, organised by Rugby & Northampton Athletic Club and Rotary Club of Rugby, to raise money for local good causes.

There will be races suitable for every age, including a Mini Santa Lap for under-eights, a one-mile Santa Dash open to everyone aged six and over, and the main 5K Santa Fun Run for all aged eight and above.

Santa suits and medals are included in the entry fee and there are prizes for individual winners.

Businesses, schools and clubs can also enter teams to battle it out for the Santa Run Cup.

All proceeds will be shared between Rotary Club of Rugby charities and Rugby & Northampton Athletic Club.

Early bird entry to the 5K Santa Run is only £10 and is available up until November 1.

LUTTERWORTH‘S Santa Fun Run will return for its 11th outing, having so far raised £108,000 for good causes.

Organisers the Lutterworth and Wycliffe Rotary Clubs hope to beat last year’s turnout, when over 500 Father Christmases took part.

Runners can choose a 4km or 5.7km route. Both will start at 11am from Lutterworth College, finishing there for free refreshments.

Lutterworth Town Band will provide seasonal music.

Organising committee chair Mark Thompson said: “The Lutterworth Santa Fun Run has proved to be a great community event, marking the coming of the festive season.

“It is a fun activity for people of all abilities and raises really valuable amounts of money for often small local charities.”

This year, proceeds will go towards the local Air Ambulance, Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Mind, Twenty Twenty, Lutterworth Town Mayor’s Appeal and other Rotary-supported charities.

Individuals and teams are welcome to raise funds for other charities.

The entry fee is £10 for adults and £4 for children aged 16 and under, including a Santa suit, hat and beard.
