Redundancy help available for staff and businesses in Coventry and Warwickshire

Rugby Editorial 4th Dec, 2020   0

SUPPORT for staff and businesses affected by redundancy during the pandemic has been launched in Coventry and Warwickshire.

In response to the impact of Coronavirus on business income, Warwickshire County Council and Coventry City Council have joined forces with industry partners to form Coventry and Warwickshire Redundancy Support Service – which is open to both individuals and businesses.

The service will support businesses which are either considering redundancies, or have already made the decision.

They will receive a tailored support package, with opportunities to attend workshops and download information packs.

The service will work with businesses to explore the options available and build action plans to become more sustainable and prevent job losses and company closures where possible.

Where redundancy is unavoidable, the service will be on hand to guide and support individuals and businesses into their next venture, whether that be new employment, retraining or further education.

A new online portal will allow businesses and individuals to register and use the service.

The service’s team of local experts will host monthly information events tailored to either businesses, or individuals – and one-on-one sessions can be arranged on request.

Warwickshire County Council’s leader and economic development spokeswoman Coun Izzi Seccombe said: “The economic impact of Covid-19 is enormous. Right from the start, we understood that a coordinated approach across the county was key. The Redundancy Support Service is a great example of partnership working at its best.

“This new service is designed to support local businesses and individuals through these turbulent times, as they make difficult decisions in the months, possibly years, to come. We hope as many people as possible, who need the service, will take advantage of the fantastic, free assistance on offer.”
