Residents invited to help shape the future of Rugby

Rugby Editorial 13th Nov, 2015 Updated: 27th Oct, 2016   0

RESIDENTS are invited to have a say on the future of Rugby at a free drop-in event this weekend.

“Our Rugby, Our Future”, hosted by Rugby Borough Council, gives residents the chance see the opportunities and challenges the borough faces, and help shape the future of services provided within the community.

The event takes place at the BENN Hall from 10am until 2.30pm this Saturday (November 14) and includes presentations and discussions, entertainment and a ‘market place’ with stalls showcasing the work of Rugby’s community, voluntary and public sector organisations.

The presentations are as follows:

  • Safe and Well, which discusses crime prevention, personal safety and tackling rural crime.
  • Connected and Cohesive, talking about the town’s voluntary and community sector.
  • Housing and Employment, the current situation and how the council’s grants can help address current and emerging issues.
  • Children and Young People, a report from Warwickshire’s director of public health.

There will be 50 stalls promoting the work of organisations in the borough, including the Citizens Advice Bureau, Age UK, New Directions and the Benn Partnership Centre.

Coun Leigh Hunt, borough councillor for sustainable inclusive communities, said: “A number of organisations work together to deliver services for our communities and help Rugby rise to the challenges we face and to seize the opportunities on offer.

“Only by listening to residents can we shape plans and make sure that the services offered by a range of providers meet the needs of the community both now and in the future.

“Our Rugby, Our Future gives residents a chance to have a say on the issues which matter to them while also offering the opportunity to find out about the borough’s vibrant volunteer sector and the wide range of support services on offer.”
