Residents invited to meet staff of new primary school

Rugby Editorial 23rd Nov, 2022   0

A NEW primary school in Rugby is inviting prospective parents, carers and children to meet its new head teacher and staff.

The Griffin Primary School, which opens its doors next September, is holding Meet the Team events where visitors can learn about plans for the school and chat with the team.

The school, a non-selective, state-funded, one-form entry primary school for children aged four to 11, will be housed in new purpose-built accommodation at the Eden Park development in north Rugby.

The school will be run by Lawrence Sheriff School as its approved sponsor, which is forming a multi-academy trust.

It aims to ease the growing demand on primary school places created by several new housing developments in the area.

Discussions are also in progress about the school running a nursery for three-to-four-year-olds year olds.

Headteacher Designate Alison Hine said: “I am so delighted to have been appointed as Headteacher of The Griffin Primary School at the very start of its exciting journey.

“I have worked in education for 28 years, 10 of these as a Headteacher, and it is both enormously rewarding and a great privilege to be an integral part of a child’s early education and development.

“We hold that a happy school is a successful school, and that happy students are better placed to achieve academic success.

“Central to our vision is that we will create an inclusive school community with a warm and positive environment where every pupil is valued as an individual and can flourish and be happy, kind and confident.

“Children will develop a love of learning through an enriching curriculum that combines support, challenge and fun.”

The Meet the Team events take place at Lawrence Sheriff School on Wednesday (November 23) from 6-8pm, with talks at 6.30pm and 7.30pm; and on Monday December 5 from 4-6pm, with talks at 4.30pm and 5.30pm.
