THE REVAMP of the Clock Towers Shopping Centre will be capped off with a name change.
The centre will soon be unveiled as Rugby Central as 18 months of refurbishment, modernisation and upgrades comes to an end.
Owners CT Properties, who bought the complex in 2015, made a ‘significant investment’ to upgrade the mall.
The roof – previously notorious for leaking during heavy rain – has been replaced, and new disability-compliant ‘pay on foot’ machines that allow chip-and-pin card payments have been installed.
Lifts are being replaced, new granite flooring laid, new CCTV cameras installed, car park lighting improved, and free WiFi has gone online.
The transformation will be complete when the Market Place and North Street entrances are revamped, bearing the new name and logo.
A CT spokeswoman said: “Anybody who has visited Clock Towers over the last year or so will have noticed the new life being breathed into the retail space, overhauling outdated services, as well as refreshing and modernising the centre’s finishes and amenities.
“To complement the fresh look and feel to the centre, the owners and their management team are proud to announce a new name – Rugby Central – which perfectly captures the position of the shopping centre within the town, and the experience it will offer to visitors.”
She added a weekend of celebration for the relaunch will soon be announced.
Centre manager Robin Swift said: “The refurbishment has been a massive project but one which I’ve enjoyed watching develop.
“It will be exciting to see the new entrances and signage unfold and the centre transform into Rugby Central. All of our tenants – current and new – can’t wait to welcome shoppers into a space that they are proud to be a part of.”
Rugby First managing director Aftab Gaffar added: “The development of Rugby Central is essential for the town and our community. The new branding and refurbished entrances will be an enhancement for Market Mall and Market Place.
“We look forward to working closely with the management to promote the centre within the town.”
