A PLANNING application for the Sir Frank Whittle Studio School in the grounds of Lutterworth College has been resubmitted with new proposals to extend the current car park on Bitteswell Road.
Concerns had been expressed about the effect the school – which will eventually have 300 teenagers on its roll in addition to the 2,400 pupils already there – would have on existing parking problems.
The town council had objected to the proposals for a new two storey building from where 14 to 19-year-olds will get industry-specific training in either engineering, retail and logistics, and leisure and tourism alongside GCSEs in English, maths and science. It is due to open in September.
Town clerk Hannah Surtees said members of the council’s planning committee had resolved to object to the application until what she described as extensive parking issues had been resolved.
A date has yet to be set by Harborough District Council to discuss the application which now includes a further 55 car parking spaces.
