'Robust' police plan in place to deal with disorder in Warwickshire this weekend

A ‘ROBUST’ plan is in place to deal with any disorder in Warwickshire this weekend, the county’s police force has said.

Outbreaks of far-right violence across England were sparked by misinformation spread widely across the internet following the Southport stabbings last week in which three young girls were killed.

On Wednesday (August 9), a day of rumoured unrest failed to materialise when rioters were met my police officers and counter-protestors in cities around the country.

Warwickshire Police said it remained part of a wider national policing operation and was prepared to react locally if necessary.

A spokesperson said: “Violence and disorder or hate crime will never be tolerated, and along with officers from our Safer Neighbourhood Teams, we have specially trained officers equipped to respond quickly and intervene early.

“We remain grateful to our partner agencies across the county who, along with us, are helping to keep our residents safe during this national period of unrest.”

Anyone with concerns or information which may help police is asked to speak to their Safer Neighbourhood Team via www.warwickshire.police.uk/area/your-area or call 999 in an emergency.
